I hired Hockings Plumbing and Gas to fix a leak, paying $335 for the job. The next morning, the issue was still there. When they returned, they admitted their first repair may have failed due to the glue not setting properly, something beyond my control. They initially said they would fix it, but instead, they tried to charge me another $110, despite knowing they hadn’t done the job properly. They never even sent an invoice for this charge, yet still expected payment.
A licensed plumber reviewed their work today and uncovered deliberate deception. Instead of properly repairing the leak, they buried a snapped-off pipe under dirt, capped off one end instead of fixing it, and damaged my reticulation wires. The licensed plumber stated this is not how any professional should operate.
They knowingly covered up their poor workmanship and ignored my follow-ups. What’s most disappointing is that I chose them based on good reviews, expecting the same service others received. My experience, however, was completely different. The lack of accountability and refusal to respond raises serious concerns about whether all customers are treated equally.
I have attached photos of the hole they originally left behind and what was uncovered today. The difference speaks for itself.
Given their clear deception, I will be requesting a refund. A professional business would own up to its mistakes—but Hockings Plumbing and Gas has shown they operate differently.

HOCKING'S PLUMBING & GAS PTY LTD were excellent to deal with. They were happy to help when I rang them for replacement of a seized outside Tap and to repair two kitchen taps. They gave me a window of time they would be attending and a message when they were 15 Mins away. Byron confirmed the price before commencing the work. He was pleasant, quick and efficient.

I rang Jared around 8:30am and I exchanged my details via message and Jared messaged me back that somebody would be at my home between 10am - 2 pm.
Byron arrived on time and was a very courteous person and ready to go into a hot roof cavity to find the burst pipe and identify leak and carry out the repairs. He eventually located the leak about 2-3 metres away from the leak on the ceiling . He fixed it and let’s hope it stays that way.

I do get a bit annoyed though when I have to pay a credit card fee, when we're living in age when credit cards are the go and cash is just about history. Called Hocking's Wednesday as we were in the middle of renovating our bathroom and kitchen when we realised that we urgently required pipe work had to be shifted to accommodate new shower mixer and kitchen sink. Jared arrived that afternoon and supplied quote on the spot and said he could have the works done Friday morning which were completed to a high standard.
